If you're beginning your career in information and cybersecurity, I strongly encourage you to read on.
Too often, I encounter candidates with an impressive list of certifications and credentials that, on the surface, suggest a depth of knowledge. Yet, when put to the test, that knowledge often proves superficial.
Many pursue these accolades not as a means of genuine understanding but as validation for themselves or to pass through ATS systems, often done in haste. The pursuit becomes about checkboxes rather than competence, about recognition rather than mastery.
Foundational questions quickly expose this gap, and I mean fundamental questions covered in depth in such courses and certifications. The veneer of certification crumbles when there’s no real substance behind it.
A person may be well-certified yet unprepared to apply their knowledge in meaningful, adaptable ways. They've not taken the time to mature their thinking and depth around their understanding.
Take your learning seriously. This isn’t a race. There’s no podium, no medal, just your career and professionalism at stake.
Your value in the market goes far beyond the accolades.
